30033 T/Major H.W. Smith-Hillcoat QSC

R3,100

Another huge project for the keen researcher, over 650 pages of research from his files in the SADF Archives in Pretoria.

Harry William Smith-Hillcoat from East London was a qualified Accountant who began his military career in 1936 as a Pte with the Pretoria Regiment. By April 1940 he was a Sgt serving in No 9 Company “Q” S.C. He was commissioned on the 10th April 1940. He served at numerous locations in South Africa before being transferred to the ME in October 1943. Smith-Hillcoat was one of a few UDF servicemen who when seconded to the UK forces was attached to the Balkan (Greece) pool of officers. Here he served as a financial officer effective from the 1st January 1944. He was discharged as a T/Major on the 22nd October 1945. He was born in 1915 and passed away in 2003. Research will be sent to purchaser on a disc.

All medals and MID (LG date 29/11/1945) are confirmed in papers. A nice group to a South African Officer.
